About Highbury KC

Highbury Korfball Club is a friendly, competitive North London based sports club. Whether you're a seasoned korfball pro or an absolute beginner curious to try the game, everybody is welcome to play with us.

Training

Training is every Thursday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Highbury Grove School. This just a few minutes walk from Highbury and Islington tube.

Anybody who wants to give the game a try can turn up any Thursday to join us and the first two sessions are free!

Or if you contact one of us in advance we can meet you at the tube station. After a hard training session everyone deserves a pint or two. The social aspect is a big part of our club and korfball in general. After training we head to The Alwyne pub, so there's really no excuse.

Matches

Highbury KC is part of the London & District Korfball Association and participates in the Indoor League running from October to April. The First team competes in the London Premier Division and finished 2nd in the 2006/07 season. The Second team also did well, finishing 5th in the London First Division. We have also launched a Third team for the 2007/08 korfball season.

During the summer months Highbury KC regularly attends outdoor tournaments around the country and abroad. Tournaments are great fun, usually consisting of a number of 15 to 30-minute games over one or two days, accompanied by social events.

Highbury Socials

Because korfball is a mixed-sex sport, its social side is enhanced by the fifty-fifty split in male and female players. Forget speed-dating, korfball has it covered! Highbury are a very social korfball club and members regularly organise events in and around London. Previous events have ranged from banger racing to wine tasting. Here are some photos taken from a recent restaurant and bowling social.
